WP-SpamFree Update – Version 1.8 With New Drop-In Spam-Free Contact Form

Due to popular demand, I’ve added a spam-free contact form feature to WP-SpamFree. Apparently you guys all like blogging without spam, and have requested quite a few times to have me create either a new plugin or add a feature that adds a drop-in contact form for your blog, and uses the WP-SpamFree secret sauce to keep spammers away. Well, your wish is now a reality.

The new contact form feature is incredibly easy to use and takes less than a minute to implement. All you have to do is first create a page (not post) where you want to have your comment form. Then, insert the following tag and you’re done: <!--spamfree-contact-->

There is no need to configure the form, it allows you to simply drop it into the page you want to install it on. It really is that easy.

Please keep in mind that there are many plugins out there with many options for configuration and customization. That’s not the purpose of this feature, so the contact form doesn’t have configuration options. This one is designed for people who want a quick and easy-to-install contact form that doesn’t get spammed, and doesn’t bother users with CAPTCHA’s and questions. If you decide not to use the contact form feature, it won’t hinder your regular use of WP-SpamFree in any way, and you’re still free to use other contact form plugins. After all – WP-SpamFree’s primary purpose is fighting spam.

Don’t forget about other recent updates:

If any of you have questions, feedback, or support requests, please contact me at the WP-SpamFree Support Page and I will respond as quickly as possible.

One feature I’m working on for a future release is an optional logging feature for those of you who want to see what spams were blocked.

Just so you all know, to further the development of this plugin, I study thousands and thousands of potential spam comments from many test blogs and contributors. I use a special diagnostic version of the plugin on all our blogs and test sites, which provides much more information on each of these spam comments than what is shown in WordPress. By analyzing patterns and behaviors consistent with spam, I can continually improve the plugin and ensure future accuracy.

Keep your eyes out for updates, and enjoy blogging without spam. :)

This sounds like a great idea.
Nice that your plugin stops spambots in a way that they do not steal to much processing time and bandwidth.

    But I don’t have WordPress so I can’t use it :(

Any chance that you will release a “stand alone” generic version for other php blogs?
